SEMOLINA PANEER LADOOS

SWEET FIASCO - SEMOLINA PANEER LADOOS

INGREDIENTS
1 Cup Semolina,
 ½ liter cow milk
2 Teaspoons vinegar mixed with 1 Tablespoon water - to make Soft Paneer
1 Cup sugar
2 ½ cups water
Rose water for flavoring
Almond slices for garnishing

METHOD
1. In a pan heat the cow milk, at the boiling stage add vinegar and stir till paneer is formed, stain the whey and hold the paneer under cold water to remove vinegar flavor  . Crumble the paneer finely.
2. In another pan roast the semolina till its pinkish brown in colour.
3. Remove the roasted semolina on a plate and in the same pan add 1 cup sugar and 2 ½  cups of water to make sugar syrup.
4. Let the sugar syrup come to a boiling point,  simmer the heat and let it boil  for 2 minutes, then add finely crumbled paneer and boil it for 5 more minutes.
5. Now add roasted semolina to sugar syrup and keep stirring till the mixture starts leaving the sides of pan. Switch off the heat, add rose water for flavoring and mix it well, let the mixture cool  to room temperature.
6. Make ladoos from the mixture and garnish it with almond slices.

Now the story of how this SWEET FIASCO was born - After almost a year,  I decided to make Rasgoollas  yesterday. I made the paneer kneaded it well to make Rasgoollas, made the sugar syrup and put the balls in the syrup to boil. After ten minutes or so I looked at the Rasgoolas to find out how much they have grown in size and realized that the paneer balls have scattered in the syrup. So I switched off the heat and started wondering what to do with paneer scattered sugar syrup. First I thought I will make Semolina Halwa out of it , so started roasting the semolina and then suddenly changed my mind and decided to make semolina ladoos. That’s how the above recipe has born. The ladoos were very tasty. I am going to make it again and name it as SWEET FIASCO.
